This policy explains what Court Mates collects, why, and what you can do about it. Court Mates is a non-profit community project operated by an individual founder in New York, USA. We collect as little as we can to run the service, and we never sell your data.
Some optional fields — religion, political views, ethnicity, and (through dating intent) information that may reveal aspects of your love life — are considered sensitive. You don’t have to provide them. If you do, you consent to us using them to power filtering and discovery so members can find compatible people. You can edit or remove them at any time in your profile.
We process your data to provide the service you asked for, for our legitimate interest in running a safe community, and — for the sensitive optional fields above — on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw by removing that information.
Court Mates is a community, so signed-in members can see your profile — your name, age, photos, level, home courts, bio, and any compatibility details you add. Please don’t post anything you wouldn’t want other members to see. Your email, phone number, and exact date of birth are never shown to other members.
We use a small set of trusted service providers who process data on our behalf, under their own security and privacy terms:
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our members. We do not sell or rent your data or use it for third-party advertising.
We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, photos, and associated data. Limited records may remain where needed for safety or legal reasons.
You can view and edit your profile, export your data, and delete your account from the Account & privacy screen at any time. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, or restrict processing of your data — contact us to exercise them.
Access to data is controlled at the database level (row-level security), and data is encrypted in transit. No online service is perfectly secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security — please use a secure email account, since that’s how you sign in.
We use only what’s needed to run the service: a secure cookie to keep you signed in, and local storage for things like your theme choice. We don’t use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Our providers store and process data in the United States. If you access Court Mates from elsewhere, you understand your information is processed in the US.
Court Mates is for adults only and is not directed to anyone under 18. We don’t knowingly collect data from minors; if we learn an account belongs to someone under 18, we’ll remove it.
We’ll update this policy as the project grows and update the date above. Material changes will be highlighted in the app where appropriate.
